Black Mountain earns its name from the volcanic soil in the area, and is located a short drive east of Kelowna’s city center. Its convenient location provides easy access to all of greater Kelowna’s amenities via Hwy 33, but comes along with all of the comfort and benefits of living in the suburbs.
The most common home type in Black Mountain is single family detached, though some condo and townhome options also exist. The neighbourhoods are family-friendly with generous lots and spacious yards, and there are several nearby options for elementary schools. As the homes are built up the hillside, many also offer beautiful views of the valley and Okanagan Lake. There is a good mix of older neighbourhoods as well as new developments to consider. This creates quite a wide price range, with Black Mountain mainly attracting families and retirees.
Black Mountain is home to Black Mountain Golf Club and WildPlay Element Park (an outdoor adventure park), as well as several hiking trails and wineries. It’s also within easy access of Big White Ski Resort and Kelowna Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Club.
