While this year has been different for all of us due to the current COVID pandemic, it has left a lot of us wondering what is there to do for the Halloween season. Below are some spooktacular things to do in Kelowna this Halloween with your friends and family.
McMillan Farms & Corn Maze
As we approach Halloween everyone is in search of the perfect pumpkin to carve their jack-o-lanterns. Why not scavenge for it at the most popular pumpkin patch in Kelowna, the McMillan Farms. With new policies to ensure they meet health guidelines; this is the perfect place to visit with friends or family.
Along with the rows of pumpkins to pick from for your perfect pumpkin there is also a 3-acre corn maze on site and hayrides to take your little ones on a tour of the 110-acre farm, Mission Creek, and to see the farm animals!
Other amazing farms to visit during the Halloween season are
- O’Keefe Ranch
- Tranquil Farm Fresh
Haunted Houses
If pumpkin patches and corn mazes are not your thing, you can also visit some spots that are said to be haunted.
DeHart House
Known as one of Canadas historical places the Brookside Manor or W.A.C Bennet House was built in 1914. Said to be haunted by the original owners of the place, the DeHart family.
Francis Hart, once mayor of Kelowna, died in 1935 and his son, also named Francis could not keep the house and sold it to W.A.C. Bennett. There have been many stories that have come from the Brookside Manor since, including members of the Bennett family reporting to have seen an old man wearing a grey suit, today known as the DeHart ghost. Others have seen a young man sitting on a bed around the time one of the DeHart boys had been killed in battle during The Second World War and past employees have seen white figures waving to them from the balcony above the entry way.
Guisachan House
Built in 1891 to serve as a summer home for the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen. The house was a working ranch that sat on 480 acres and was the first in the Okanagan Valley to become a large-scale fruit and hops farm.
This historic home is said to be haunted as visitors have said to have heard the clopping of horse hooves coming down the driveway.
The Guisachan House was purchased by the City of Kelowna and today operates as a restaurant.
Haunted, spooky or is it all just rumours?
