Is Winter A Good Time To Sell My House?

December 17, 2020

Is Winter A Good Time To Sell My House? This is one of the most common questions we get here at The Property Source Group during this time of year. The answer to this question is always “YES!” and here is why:

Less Competition

Most sellers think that they need wait until the spring to put their houses up for sale as that is when the market starts to pick up. What a lot of sellers don’t realize is that with the upturn of the Spring market comes along an influx in competition and as a result sellers are competing for a buyer’s attention. Listing in the winter has one great advantage, less competition. During the winter there is a low inventory in housing which could ideally mean that sellers are able to sell their home faster and command a better price.

Homebuyers Are Ready To Move

The Spring and Summer home buyers are generally not in a rush to buy as there is usually a high inventory to choose from and as a result, they like to ease their way back in. Homebuyers in the winter are generally more serious when it comes to purchasing a home and are ready to move more quickly. They generally are not looking to wait until Spring and losing out on a home – especially if it’s a great house.

Biggest Corporate Relocation Happens During The Winter Months

Most corporate relocation moves happen during the winter months than in any other time of year. With January and February being the peak hiring months, this brings a surge of serious buyers into the market during the winter months as everyone is looking to settle in before starting their positions.

Easier To Maintain Curb Appeal

Curb appeal is crucial when selling your home. This means that if your curb appeal is lacking, buyers might not even consider making an offer. While in the summer there is an extensive list in maintaining the trees and shrubs, in the winter that list is significantly reduced.
